Privacy Policy

Campus Couple (the “Operator”) processes personal information as described below. This policy applies to the Campus Couple Android and iOS apps and web service.
1. Personal information collected, requirements, and purposes
Campus Couple collects information needed for registration and service delivery through Kakao, Google, and Apple account linking, your entries and file submissions, and service use. “Required” items below are needed to complete registration; “optional” items can be omitted. Information needed for university verification, chat, reports, and other individual features is collected when you use those features.
A. Registration and sign-in with Kakao
Members who choose Kakao complete registration by signing in with Kakao and creating a Campus Couple profile. The Kakao member number and email are needed for account identification and sign-in. Gender and birth year are not required data collected from Kakao, and we do not request additional consent for them.
You can register even if Kakao does not provide gender or birth year. Any values Kakao provides are filled in automatically and cannot be edited; only missing items are entered directly during profile creation.

You may refuse to provide your Kakao member number and email, but Kakao registration and sign-in are restricted without the information needed to identify your account. Gender and birth year are required to complete your profile regardless of whether Kakao supplies them. You cannot complete registration or use matching without the required profile information.
Retention and use: Stored while you use the service. Deletion handling and separate retention exceptions for email and other data are described in 4. Retention and deletionbelow.
B. Registration profile information
- Gender and birth year: Required to complete your profile. Only items not supplied by Kakao are entered directly; supplied values are used as provided. Gender is used for recommendations, profile options, and Coffee Bean earning and spending rules. Birth year is used to check eligibility, display age, and recommend matches. We do not perform separate identity or adult verification. Neither item can be changed after registration.
- Required information you enter: University, major, enrollment status, height, body type, activity area, religion, smoking and drinking habits, personality, appearance, interests, and introduction. These are used to complete registration, display your profile, and provide recommendations and matching. Religion includes a “None” option.
- Automatically generated information: A service nickname is generated when your registration profile is saved and is used to display your profile and distinguish members.
- Optional: You may add your MBTI and a voice introduction. You can register and use basic matching without either item or microphone permission.
- Activity area: We use the city, county, or district you select and its representative coordinates for matching. We do not collect real-time GPS location from your phone.
- Draft information: We save basic profile information when you save a draft or request a university so you can continue registration next time. Drafts are deleted when the profile is saved or the account is deleted.
C. Information collected for individual features
- University verification (required before matching; choice of method): We use your university email or submitted student ID, enrollment certificate, or graduation certificate and review results to verify university affiliation. Documents may contain your name, university, major, and enrollment status. You need not submit both email and documents. Verification may be deferred after registration, but introductions and chat require it.
- University requests (required when requesting): The name and email domain of an unlisted university are used to review its addition. We email the result only when you enter a full university email address instead of a domain.
- Chat and photos (when used): Messages, photos, and send/read records are used to deliver content to your conversation partner and provide chat. Sending photos is optional.
- Everytime post and app review verification (required when applying): Submitted screenshots and application and review results are used to verify posts or reviews and award Coffee Beans.
- Reports (when submitted): The reported member, reason, related matches, chats, messages, and submitted descriptions and evidence are used to investigate, operate the service safely, and enforce restrictions.
- Support (when contacted): The sender's email, inquiry, and attachments are used to respond and process requests to exercise rights.
- Email sign-in (operator-issued accounts only): Email addresses and password hashes are used for sign-in and account management. Public email registration is not available.
Before submitting documents or screenshots, hide national identification numbers, unnecessary student IDs and addresses, and other people's personal information. You do not need to submit files or content for features you do not use.
D. Information generated or collected during service use
- Service usage records: Matching, coffee invitations, chats, Coffee Bean transactions, referrals, attendance, access times, notification settings, and delivery results are used for features, abuse prevention, support, and operational statistics.
- Account, device, and connection information: Account identifiers and authentication data, app-generated device identifiers, app and OS information, IP addresses, request and error logs, and session cookies are used to maintain sign-in, resolve issues, and secure the service.
- Push notifications (when enabled): Push tokens, preferences, and delivery results are used to send notifications. Firebase processes app installation identifiers and related data to provide notifications. Permission is optional; registration and basic services remain available without it.
2. Information visible to other members
Matches receive profile information displayed in the service, such as university, major, nickname, age, area, traits, introduction, and optional voice greeting. Chat messages and photos are delivered to your conversation partner. Verification emails and documents and login tokens are not disclosed to matches.
If you join through a referral link, the referrer may see status information needed for referral and reward processing. We do not disclose personal information beyond what the service requires unless authorized by law or your separate consent.
3. External services and delegated processing
- Kakao (information provision and authentication): With your consent, Kakao provides the member number and email needed for identification and sign-in. Gender and birth year are used only if Kakao provides them; missing items are entered directly in Campus Couple. - Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: Processes app installation identifiers, push tokens, and notification content to deliver notifications. Firebase privacy information

- Cloudflare R2: Stores uploaded files and attachment metadata needed to operate the service. University documents and verification screenshots use private storage and authenticated access. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
Using these overseas providers may involve processing personal information on servers abroad. Data is transmitted over encrypted networks. Retention and deletion follow each provider's guidance and the Operator's settings. Contact us below with questions about external processing or data transfers, or to request that related features be stopped.
4. Retention and deletion
- Kakao registration data: Gender and birth year defaults, linking source, and timestamps are used to fill and lock profile fields and are deleted on account deletion. The Kakao member number is replaced with a random value to prevent sign-in with that account. The account email is also replaced; email records for re-registration restrictions follow the exceptions below. This deletes your Campus Couple account, not your Kakao account.
- Profiles and university verification: Stored during membership. Profiles, registration drafts, verification records, and notification preferences are deleted on account deletion. Kakao links are replaced with de-identified values, and login and push connections are revoked.
- Chat: Ended chats are kept for 30 days after ending, then deleted. Chat photos are removed according to their viewing period after sending.
- Repeat-introduction prevention: We separately store only both account identifiers, the last match time, and whether a chat was opened. We do not copy messages, photos, or profile content. Matches without a chat are removed after three months; chat-opening history is deleted when either member leaves.
- Inbox: Notifications and linked push delivery records are automatically deleted 30 days after notification creation. They are also deleted when the account is deleted.
- Attachments: University documents, profile voice recordings, and post/review screenshots are removed by cleanup jobs after their linked records are deleted. Deleting verification records and final removal from storage or backups may occur at different times.
- Retention after account deletion: To enforce the three-week re-registration restriction and prevent repeated free rewards, we separately retain social and university emails, device identifiers, deletion time, reason, and related identification records. These currently have no separate expiration period so reward restrictions can continue to apply.
- Operations and safety records: Coffee Bean transactions, reports and restrictions, and minimal activity and email delivery records are retained separately for operations, abuse prevention, and disputes. Email blocks due to bounces or spam complaints remain after account deletion to prevent further sending. No separate automatic deletion period is currently set for these records.
When retention purposes end or a valid deletion request is processed, electronic records and attachments are deleted in a way that makes recovery difficult. Data legally required to be retained is stored separately for the applicable reason and period. Requests to access or delete retained exceptions can also be sent to the contact below.
5. Your privacy rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, suspension of processing, and withdrawal of consent. You can edit your profile and notification preferences in settings and delete your account in account settings. If you cannot use the app, email us; we will verify your identity and process the request.
Gender and birth year provided by Kakao cannot be edited from the entry stage. Directly entered values also cannot be changed through the UI or API after registration. If information is incorrect, request a correction by support email. We will verify your identity and the information, then notify you of the outcome.
How to request account and data deletion without the app
If we cannot fully fulfill a request because of law or the rights of other members, we will explain why. Do not email passwords or Kakao verification codes.
6. Permissions and cookies
- The microphone is used when you choose to record a voice introduction.
- Notification permission is used for matching, chat, and service updates and can be changed in device settings.
- Photos and documents are uploaded only from files you choose through the system file picker. We do not collect your entire photo library or contacts.
- Cookies maintain sign-in and referral attribution. You can delete or block cookies in your browser, but some features such as sign-in may be limited.
7. Secure processing and child protection
We apply measures such as encrypted transmission, authenticated access, permission restrictions, and login token protection. Campus Couple serves adults and does not provide dating for minors. Contact us below if you become aware of an underage registration or child safety concern.

Policy changes and effective dates will be posted here. Changes requiring separate consent will follow the relevant procedure.
Changes: We distinguished the Kakao member number and email from gender and birth year, which are not required data collected from Kakao. We clarified that supplied gender and birth year are used as provided, missing items are entered directly, and changes are restricted after registration.
Social account identification and duplicate university email verification
For Kakao, Google, and Apple sign-in, we store the provider's account identifier, email address, email verification status, and latest authentication time. The same reliably verified email is linked to one Campus Couple account; different emails are used for separate accounts. If an email changes, we use the linked social identifier to find the existing account. We do not merge data between separate accounts.
Apple Hide My Email addresses are treated as different from your actual email address. Members joining through Google or Apple enter gender and birth year when creating their profile. A university email can be verified for only one active account. If another account already uses it, we direct you to that existing account.
Social sign-in identifiers and university email ownership records are deleted on account deletion. Primary email, linked verified email, and device records used to restrict re-registration follow the retention exceptions below.
